This program teaches children to build and design increasingly advanced mechanisms. Through playful topics children develop a strong understanding of the mechanical advantages of GEARS, PULLEYS, LEVERS and WHEELS& AXLES and use a motor to power their creations.
The programe is divided into 4 sections:
FORCES AND MOTION, MEASUREMENTS, ENERGY AND POWERED MACHINES.
Identifying a need and developing ideas. Working as individuals and in teams. Use materials and components as well as modular construction kits to design and make high quality working prototypes.
Scientific inquiry including predicting and measuring the effect of variables on the performance of simple machines. Careful observation, measurement and recording.
Measure time, distance, weight,and force to a suitable degree of accuracy. Solve simple equations to calculate speed.
In the Advanced level programme students will explore renewable energy sources; investigate energy supply, transfer, accumulation, conversion, and consumption; and use measurements and data analysis to describe and explain outcomes through hands-on activities and exciting, real-life models.
