Children will learn the basics of simple programming. With playful models plugged into the computer they learn to control motors and sensors. They will deepen their understanding of simple machines such as gears, wheels and axles, levers and pulleys.
Students are encouraged to build and programme a working model and then use the model for different purposes, depending upon the theme of the activity.
This programme is divided into 4 themes:
AMAZING MECHANISMS, WILD ANIMALS, PLAY SOCCER, ADVENTURE STORIES.
Trace the transmission of motion and transfer of energy through the machine Identify the simple and compound machines at work Including gears, pulleys, levers, cams, worm gear and crown gear.
Program and create a working modelCompare natural systems with mechanical systems.
Build, program and test the models.Modify a model’s behaviour by changing the mechanical system or by adding a sensor. Brainstorm to find creative alternative solutions.Learn to share ideas and work together.
Measure time in seconds and tenth of a second. Measure distance in cms or inches. Understand the concept of randomness. Compare diameter and rotational speed.
